Company History

Gates Roofing Co. Inc. is a third generation family operated construction services company serving the greater Plattsburgh New York and surrounding counties.

George R Gates Sr. established Gates Roofing Co. as a sole propitiator in 1927. Frank J. Gates Sr. worked at his father’s side until he became a full partner in 1966.

Frank J. Gates Sr. became the sole propitiator in 1972. In 1987 Gates Roofing Company was incorporated as Gates Roofing & General Construction Company Inc. Frank J. Gates Sr. is the corporation president and sole share holder.

In 1988 Gates Roofing Company applied and was approved as a New York State Disadvantaged Minority Business Enterprise in recognition of their Native American heritage.

In the early 90’s Gates Roofing Co. Inc. began expanding their areas of expertise to multiple trade disciplines such as masonry, carpentry, electrical, interior and exterior renovations etc. etc.

Frank Gates was joined by his son Steven in 1996 who now heads the family business.
